Returning the Land

The Franciscan Sisters of Perpetual Adoration in Arbor Vitae, Wisconsin transferred their Marywood Spirituality Center property to the Lac du Flambeau Band of Lake Superior Chippewa Indians. This returning of the land is the first of its kind done by a Catholic organization. The Franciscan Sisters of Perpetual Adoration did so in an act of reconciliation and repair for the church’s hand in colonialism and Indian Boarding Schools.
