Ever the Optimist

“How to Raise Optimistic Kids in Pessimistic Times” by KJ Dell’Antonia appeared in Time recently.  In the essay, she wonders at how our behavior as parents can make our kids lean towards pessimism or lean towards optimism.  If focusing on bad news can change our mood and outlook in a negative way, it makes sense that noticing “good news” can change our mood and outlook in a positive way.  That’s what we’re trying to do at Stories of Joy.  Of course, there’s bad news in our world.  We’re not naïve about that, but we can all make an effort to notice the joy around us too.
