Alvin Roth is a Nobel-prize winning economist . . . so, what does he know about kidney transplants? A lot. He designed a transplant chain. He got the idea after hearing a story about two spouses who met in a hospital waiting room. They were unable to donate to their own spouses, but they were able to donate to each other’s spouses. His transplant chain idea took off from there.
