A student shows up to school wearing a hat. This is against the school dress code. Instead of immediately sending the kid to in-school suspension, the principal asked what was wrong and why he disobeyed a simple request to remove his hat. When the principal learned it was all about a bad haircut, he offered to help by cutting the student’s hair. This kindness is regularly demonstrated at the school. A quote from the principal, printed in another article, is a great one not just for students but people of all ages. He said, “All behavior is communication and when a student is struggling, we need to ask ourselves what happened to this child instead of what’s wrong with the child.” Click the link below to read today’s Story of Joy.
