Reunited

A simple act of curiosity turned into something deeply meaningful when Katie Slocum found an old, heartfelt letter tucked inside a book from a Little Free Library. Instead of ignoring it, she set out to find the original owner, eventually reuniting the letter with the woman it was written to years earlier.  The letter was written in 2003 by a grandmother named Irene to her granddaughter Jackie for her 16th birthday. It was deeply personal, full of vivid and affectionate reflections.  Over the years, Jackie kept the letter close, turning to it during big life transitions when she felt lonely or far from home because it reminded her how deeply she was loved.  Slocum said you don’t forget a letter like that and was thrilled to be able to return the letter to Jackie.
