Anita lived in a Phoenix neighborhood. She didn’t live in a home in the neighborhood. She lived on the street. She was a fixture in the neighborhood. Folks saw her on the sidewalk. They saw her at Safeway. People gave her money, food, water, blankets. Sometimes she accepted their help. Sometimes she refused. When she died recently, the neighborhood noticed her absence. They gathered together to learn about Anita . . . and to say goodbye to her.
